Measurement Specialties Releases New Digital Low-Pressure Sensor Family with Micro-bar Pressure Resolution
Measurement Specialties (NASDAQ: MEAS) has just released for production the Model 5701 series designed specifically for low pressure applications. These are factory-calibrated digital-interface pressure sensors with excellent long-term stability and covering an operating rage of ±1 to ±4 inches of H2O (±2.5 to ±10 mbar). The devices feature side-by-side ports enabling secure pressure connections to 3/32 inch (2.4mm) ID hosing.
The sensors feature an SPI and I2C bus interface and offer 24-bit resolution with a user-selectable conversion rate from 0.6 ms at 8-bit resolution to 8.3 ms at 24-bit resolution. The operating current consumption is of a few µA and the device requires no external components. The standby current is smaller than 0.14 µA and operation range is from -40 °C to +85 °C. The sensor can be used to replace conventional analog-output sensors in many applications with the resultant saving in board-level component count.

The 5701 series is part of a new low-pressure family of analog- and digital-output pressure modules, which offer industry-leading performance and measurement stability. The 5701 series measure 13 x 10.2 mm with a height of 6mm (standard port configuration). The modules communicate via a four-wire SPI or two-wire I2C interface, and are delivered pre-calibrated in a surface-mount 14-pin RoHS-compliant package.

The 5701 series is available immediately in sample quantities and is priced at $18.60 in quantities of 1000 units. 10K pricing available from $13.65. For higher volume, factory quotations are available. The delivery form is in tubes (40 units per tube).
